129 Runwell Road

The proposal 07/00718/FUL  was to demolish one house and replace it with 13 dwellings and associated garages and parking. This is on the Runwell Road, and access was via a new access road and turning head at the end of Ethelred Gardens.

The plan was submitted to Chelmsford Council by Mr J Connor on 4th April 2007 and the application was REFUSED on 26 June 2007, full details can be viewed on the above link.

A new application has been submitted on 19th September 2007, 07/01822/FUL, similar, but for 12 houses.

It is interesting that the grounds for refusal of the first application included the fact that the proposal failed to achieve two car parking spaces per property, and that the 13 dwellings did not make provision for four additional primary school places and two secondary school places. It's a pity Basildon Council doesn't seem to follow such public spirited criteria as Chelmsford when making planning decisions!

Indeed, the monstrous 5 storey block nearby at 3-31 Runwell Road has now been approved by the government inspector, but has NO provision for school places even though it is for 84 flats! As we've said many times before, the people of Wickford are not being treated fairly.
