Wickford is
being transformed How ironic that Eastley Park is to be given village green status. Well done to Mr. Rowe when Wickford, formally a market town, is being turned into an urban sprawl with the building of multi-storey buildings in the high street area, the threat of our main post office being closed to make way for another carbuncle on the Wickford skyline, a natural park and woodland being given up to another housing estate. If that wasn't bad enough, we are to get a new prison, albeit in Runwell, which is under Chelmsford. It seems like Basildon Council has decided that all the housing that has to be built in this area will be built in Wickford. Again, well done to Lee Chapel South, it's just a shame that Wickford has to be so dramatically changed in the name of progress.
