Town's dilemma is fault of councillors

Town's dilemma is fault of councillors
Echo 3 November 2008, letter from Alan Ball

It is the Basildon Council’s responsibility to get the district plan ratified.

This is extremely important as I am sure councillor Carole Morris (Oct 28) is aware, as it is the group of planning documents by which development for land use is controlled throughout the Basildon District.
This is Basildon Council's responsibility to get this plan ratified, stop blaming others!
Instead we are left with a plan 10 years old!  True, the new plan would have designated the Barn Hall area as green belt, but the 1998 plan left it as ‘land of special reserve’, which meant it was vulnerable to developers, and now will be built on, what a shame and the only people to blame are the Councillors.
The Wickford councillors have always stated all the flats in the town centre were to protect the green spaces of Wickford and to fund improvements to the town centre. How wrong they were, because we now will get both developments, Masterplan and Barn Hall
This is exactly what the Wickford Action Group have always predicted, it is the nightmare scenario for Wickford.
Again, the only people to blame are the councillors for such bad planning!
