Group is not a political force Echo,
13 December 2007, letters page - David Harrison, Alicia Avenue
WICKFORD Action Group is not a
'political opponent' of any political party (Comment, Dec 5).
We are non-political, and will remain so. We do care about Wickford, however, and believe that many of Wickford's problems result from a failure to develop infrastructure for the existing population, before building extra homes.
We would like to see more doctors, dentists, police and school places in Wickford, together with improvements to our highways.
Infrastructure improvements should happen alongside developments, not years later or never!
I believe I was right to raise our concerns about councillors dealing with a developer on a "live" planning application in the way that councillors Malcolm Buckley and Tony Ball did, irrespective of which political party they belong to.
But for the tell-tale e-mail we obtained, the meeting may have never come to light.
It is rather childish of Mr Buckley to say that he will have nothing to do with us from now on.
The Wickford Action Group not only has a very solid base in Wickford, but it's support is growing very quickly.
If he and his fellow Wickford councillors were really looking after the interests of the people of Wickford, there would be no need for Wickford Action Group to challenge them at elections.
