Other developments are listed here. Some affect Wickford more directly than others, but ALL will put pressure on the existing infrastructure - roads, education, health & environment.

Runwell Hospital Site
Application 01/00320/OUT was submitted on 15th Feb 2001 by the Secretary of State for Health, for 'Redevelopment of Runwell Hospital to provide 624 dwellings, neighbourhood shopping, educational facilities, recreational facilities, new access including a roundabout, and highway improvements and public open space'
Very few details are available on the Chelmsford Council website, and it isn't clear whether the application is approved or not.

In 2009 the site was earmarked for a prison, and over 1000 local residents have signed a petition against it. A planning application has not yet been submitted to Chelmsford Council. There is more on the Chelmsford Council website here...

Gardiners Lane, Basildon
The 128 acre Gardiners Lane site lies south of the A127 in Basildon. The site has been recognised as a crucial element in fulfilling the aspirations of the Thames Gateway South Essex initiative to create a major business hub for the area.
English Partnerships, which owns around 75 per cent of the site, is part of the Basildon Renaissance Partnership, which includes Basildon District Council, the East of England Development Agency (EEDA), Thames Gateway South Essex Partnership and Essex County Council. Outline planning permission was agreed in April 2006 for 543 dwellings.

North Benfleet
Castle Point Borough Council is currently consulting on its Local Development Framework (LDF) Core Strategy and Generic Development Control Policies Preferred Options Report for the development of the Borough in the period until 2021. This consultation was due to end on 10 November 2006.
Within this strategy the Council is required to set out how it intends to address the priorities put forward by the East of England Regional Assembly in its Regional Spatial Strategy, which outlines the need for 4,000 new homes and 2,000 new jobs in the Borough by 2021.
Hickfort Limited is proposing a development which includes 2,400 new homes, for inclusion in the LDF, and you can read more on their consultation website..
