Send in your objections to a planning application

Basildon Council have a well designed website, and there is an excellent facility for you to see details of planning applications.

Planning Appeals can be found on the Planning Inspectorate website, where you can submit comments on-line. To search for all appeals in the town, use this link and enter 'Wickford' in the town name.

Any live applications will be shown below - click one of the links below to object NOW

When the form opens, follow the instructions.

For comments on Planning Applications, just type in your reasons, using the topics listed at the bottom of this page.

For Planning Appeals, select the 'Reasons' from the list displayed - to select more than one, hold down the 'Ctrl' key to select / de-select an item.

The recommended layout when sending your comments about an appeal is shown below, if you can't submit comments on-line

  • Your name and address.
  • The Planning Inspectorate appeal reference number (this will start APP/…).
  • The address of the appeal site.
  • ‘I am against the appeal proposals’ or ‘I support the appeal proposals’
  • Your comments.
If you are against, say whether it is for the same reasons as given by the LPA or, if not, explain your own reasons.
Or, say why you support the appeal proposals.
  • Say if you would like us to send you a copy of the decision notice.

Please note that planning decisions can only be made on these considerations:

  • is it contrary to green belt policy?
  • is it contrary to development plan zoning?
  • will it be overdevelopment of the site?
  • is it prejudicial to the re-planning of the area?
  • are there objections on highway safety grounds?
  • is there a lack of car parking or other services?
  • is there damage to residential amenity, i.e. light?
  • is the design poor?
  • is the layout poor?
